Image Centre was founded in 1989 with origins in pre-press. As the industry evolved around the onset of digitial technology we firstly moved upstream establishing Design in 1994, later adding Web services in 1995, and finally rounding out our multi-channel service offering with the establishment of sheetfed Print in late 1997.
Since 1999 we have been based in a purpose built 35,000ft2 (3,250m2) complex in Auckland, New Zealand.
Image Centre is privately owned by founders Syd Atkins, David Ashton, Glyn MacDonald and Direct Capital Private Equity Limited. The partnership origins started in 1964 when Syd and Glyn began working together with David joining then in 1968. Syd and Glyn went on to form Western Litho Ltd in 1971 where David worked alongside them until they formed Image Centre Limited 1989.
In 2000 Direct Capital Private Equity Limited was invited to join the shareholder team. Direct Capital is represented at Board level by Mark Hutton.
Our independent Board member is Mike Hutcheson. Mike is one of NZ's leading creatives and was a founding partner of Colenso and past MD of Saatchi & Saatchi and today is a partner of Lighthouse Ideas Company.
The Board meets monthly and is chaired by founder, Syd Atkins.
